Few things are as beautiful and miraculous as having children, and few things can be as heartbreaking as being unable to have children. Nikola, a miracle baby is proof that no matter how impossible it seems to have a child, there is always, always hope.

Here is the story of her birth:
"It's more my mum's impossible story than mine… She really wanted a second baby but after my sister she had postpartum depression. So my dad went and got a vasectomy without telling her. When she found out, she was furious because she wanted lots of children. My dad just said "I just couldn't go through that again". So they had to start paying for IVF. They used his sperm, because he was still producing sperm while my mum had to do all these injections so they could collect her eggs.
But then the eggs would die and when they tried to put the live eggs back in her but they would always fail…
At the time that she started doing IVF, it was an experimental procedure in Australia, and it cost her an entire year's wage just for one round of IVF. She did nine rounds of IVF over 9 years, because she could only afford to do one round a year, because it was her entire year's wage and they lived off my dad's wage.
The year before she had me, she got pregnant.
But she had a miscarriage and almost bled to death. The foetus fell out and she was bleeding everywhere and the umbilical cord was hanging out of her. They had to get in the car to go to the hospital, and so she pulled it out. Because she ripped internally, it started bleeding and she almost bled to death. And the nurse asked her "Why on earth did you pull it out?" and she said "I just couldn't sit on my baby"
Because she couldn't hold it in a way that wasn't her sitting on the foetus. He has a little plaque at our local church.
That happened to her when she was 39 and she always said "I'm going to stop at 40". But her psychologist said "You're 40 until you're 41. Why don't you give it another try?"
Then she got pregnant with me!
But she didn't know that she was pregnant. She went away on a school camp and she got spotting. And she just thought "That's it, I've gotten my period, I'm not pregnant."
She was devastated because they had put in three eggs in the hope that one of them might take. And she said "Okay, but if one takes, then two will die…" So she mourned the loss of every single egg that didn't take as if it was her own baby because it was the potential of being her own baby
She thought that she had lost her babies. But when she came home, she found out that she was pregnant!
And then she had me and I had like no complications, and she was like "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me"
And so she finally lived her impossible dream"
